Salmon fishing remains pretty slow. We are boating just a few fish each trip. Cod fishing is now open however and the catches have been very good. We have a half day trip this Saturday and the longer 7 hour trip on Sunday.

cod fishing is now open. we found the best action on Black Rockfish on the local reef North of Santa Cruz in 50 feet of water. Salmon remains hit and miss. Monday we had our best trip landing 15 big fish for 18 anglers. while friday was tough. we only boated a couple of keepers.

Salmon fishing remains spotty. We had 3 fish and lost a couple on our last trip, although the does seems to be more fish moving into the bay on new krill gathering. Cod fishing season will open on Wednesday may 1st. We still have room on that trip. The rock piles appear to have good school of fish on the. It should be good!

Well the bite looked like it was gonna happen on Friday. Velocity came back with 15 Salmon for 22 people. It was a really nice morning bite with steady action. But around 9am it just shut off and stayed off for our Sunday trip too. They only managed to get 3 fish in the boat and lost 3 others. Bait does seem to be moving into the shallows off Santa Cruz. Hopefully that and the recent winds will pick up the bite.

Salmon started pretty slow in the bay on Saturday. Then on Monday we got blown out from high winds which may help the bite. Next trip may take us north out of the bay chasing good reports up near pigeon pt. Weather permitting.

Saturday Cod fishing was a little tough. We got limits for almost everyone though. Mixed quality of blues ,yellows and decent Blacks. The wind was up and choppy conditions were from the word go. Next trip is Friday and Sunday.

Cod fishing has been great this week. Friday we had 13 ling, one big Cabezon and a Halibut along with limits of nice blacks ,blues and vermillion Rockfish for 14 people. Sunday 20 people caught 10 ling and several big reds along with limitsof cod. Come on out for some great fall fishing while the weather is beautiful and the ocean flat, flat calm!

The local reefs continue to produce limit style fishing! It's been another great season for quality Black rockfish. Friday we had limits with one nice ling. Saturday 34 people almost limited in an evening half day trip. Our next trips will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

On friday we had limits of rockfish for eveyone. The 15 fisherman caught a nice mixture of Black and Yellowtail Rockfish with several medium size Vermillion in the mix. They also Boated 3 Monterey Bay Ling Cod. Big fish went 18 lbs!. Next trip is Friday the 14th.

Cod fishing remains great on the local reefs with limits caught on most trips. Albacore are also biting only 25 miles out. Our next trip for tuna will be on thursday August 23. Limited to 14. We probably won't have live bait but on our last trip we caught a lot of our fish on swimbaits and dead bait!

Today we had 20 salmon for 29 fisherman. Several lost fish. The action was wide open in the morning, tapering off to a slow scratch later. Rock fishing has been excellent with limits being caught on recent trip on both the half day anf 7 hour trips.

Cod fishing remains good fishing local reefs. Near limits are usually caught. We are catching nice quality Black, Brown and Red Rockfish.

Cod fishing remains steady for the persistent angler. We have been getting nice size blacks, gophers and brown rockfish. Whopper for the week was a 22lb ling cod caught on the local reef on Saturday night. Salmon reports on the bay have been hot and cold. The fish have been excellent size. We will schedule some Salmon trips as consistency increases.

On Sunday Captain Mike Baxter was at the helm of Velocity. Expecting nothing less, Mike set course for the big ones! Heading to the fertile cod grounds of And Nuevo island. Even under tough conditions they scored a solid day. Landing 11 keeper lings and near limits of big black and red rockfish for 30 anglers. Rockfishing remains sold. On Wednesday and Thursday we had limits for everyone. Friday night it was a bit slower, managing only 7 per angler on average. The fish have consisted mainly of quality Black rockfish with many other species mixed in. Salmon fishing remains slow catching only 5 fish on our last trip. We will schedule trips when the bite improves. No sign of albacore yet. Call the office to get on our call list for when they do show up!!

Were focusing on rockcod right now. Both trips limited out this past weekend with a few lings each trip. The Black Rockfish were biting pretty much wide open with several reds mixed in. We have both Salmon and Cod trips available next week.

Tuesday the salmon action really picked up. Our score was weak though, landing only 14 fish for 25 anglers. We were fishing alone and had our own Sea Lion all to ourselves! He took several of our fish in addition to just losing many. But we had our chances! Good fishing though.

On Sunday we landed 5 Salmon for 29 anglers, although we had many other opportunities, we could not capitalize on them. The bite does seem to be on the upswing! The real plus is that all the fish we are getting are Hogs!

Again it was a morning bite on Tuesday. Velocity landed 21 King Salmon and released 4 undersized fish for 29 anglers. The fish remain in the Northern Monterey Bay just a few miles out of Santa Cruz. Next available space is on Monday the 30th.
